Bougainvillea, die auch als Papier-Blume ist ein Landsmann aus Brasilien und gehört zu den Nyctaginaceae Familie. Diese tropische Kletterpflanze ist ideal für Ampeln und sich in Containern, wenn sie Kaskade die lebendige blühende Reben. Die Blüte ist unauffällig im Vergleich zu den in leuchtenden Farben, Papier-Deckblätter, die die Stadt umgeben, wie die Blume.
Ich habe zwei schöne Bougainvillea Pflanzen in diesem Frühjahr. Ich möchte, um sie für den Winter. Ich habe keinen Keller und der Garage wäre zu kalt. Haben Sie Vorschläge, wie man sie über Winter lagern? Soll ich prune es, wenn ich sie nicht? Soll ich sie in der Nähe eines Fensters, oder sollte es sein, dunkel?
Bougainvillea tropischen Pflanzen sind winterhart in Zone 8-10. Es wird toleriert Temperaturen so cool wie 30-40 Grad, aber Schutz benötigen, oder es kann und zu sterben.

WINTEROVER Bougainvillea
In kälteren Regionen Bougainvillea können auch gespeichert werden, in einem stillen Keller oder in der Garage. Reduzieren Tränken, reduziert die Pflanze gerade genug, um sie überschaubar und in einem kühlen dunklen Raum. Die Anlage wird alle ihre Blätter fallen. Überprüfen Sie die Erde in regelmäßigen Abständen während des Winters, Wässern leicht nur, um es aus völlig austrocknen. Nicht düngen während dieser Zeit.

Beschneiden Bougainvillea
Ich habe eine Bougainvillea vergossen hat, dass eine Menge der Blätter und die Zweige, dass die Blätter verloren haben ausgetrocknet und starb. Es hat auch eine Menge neuer Wachstum in anderen Bereichen - die Anlage sehr fleckig. (einige neue Wachstums einige tote Winkel). Was soll ich tun, damit das Werk ist voll von neuen Wachstums?

Beschneiden Bougainvillea
Wir leben in Houston, Texas. Unsere sehr ausgereift Bougainvillea hat immer blühte groß. Es wurde aber immer außer Kontrolle Größe weise. Ich beschnitten zurück in harten Ende März, nach unserem letzten einfrieren. Die Blätter sind alle erwachsen, aber noch keine Blumen (wir hatten in der Regel voller Blumen von heute). Bekomme ich Blumen in diesem Jahr? Oder habe ich prune zu hart oder zu spät?

I live in Southern California. Ich habe eine Bougainvillea (rot) in voller Sonne. Es ist mindestens 30 Jahre alt. Ich habe versucht, es über einen Vorbau durch die Zweige wachsen in diese Richtung. Nach mehreren Jahren, die Zweige hat Woody und ich sehr spärlich Blatt Wachstum. Kann ich prune zurück in den Wald auf diesen langen Zweigen (vielleicht 15 ft) zur Förderung von Wachstum, oder sollte ich sie abschneiden und neue Niederlassungen auf dem Gebiet Ich möchte?

Wir pflanzte einen Bougainvillea im vergangenen August in unserem Hinterhof. Wir leben in Mexiko in den Bergen, wo es einige sehr schöne Pflanzen Bougainvillea. Es blühte sofort, aber nicht mit Blumen nun für einige Zeit. Es sieht aus wie kann sie haben Fehler, weil die Blätter nicht gesund aussehen-krause und geschrumpft. Hilfe! Ich weiß nichts über Garten und haben eine schöne violette Bougainvillea. Ich habe es nicht und an einem Punkt verloren, alle Blumen und Blätter. Ich befruchtet hat und auf einen regelmäßigen Zyklus Tränken und die Blumen wieder besser als je zuvor. Ich wohne in Louisville KY und mit dem Wetter immer kälter Ich brachte den Baum hinein. Nach dem Lesen der Kommentare über Ich weiß, habe ich wahrscheinlich mehr als das Wasser. Die Blüten und Blätter welken beginnen,-and-Drop. Ich bin mir nicht sicher, was zu erwarten, durch die Wintermonate und andere als die Skalierung wieder auf dem Wasser und halten sie in der Sonne, ist es etwas, was ich sonst tun sollen? Ich wohne außerhalb von Longview, TX (Zone 7) und haben nur gekauft schönsten verbrannt orange (Longhorns gehen!) Boug. und frage mich, wenn ich es könnte Pflanze in den Boden oder sollte ich nur halten sie in einem Container? Das größte Problem ist, dass ich ich nicht überall geeignet, um es innen in den Wintermonaten. Wir bekommen in den hohen 20's und 30's im Winter. Es ist so schön, und ich habe noch nie einen boug dieser Farbe vor und ich möchte nicht, dass sie zu verlieren.
Ich wohne in Gujarat, Indien, und ich habe viele Bougainvillea in meinem Garten. Wir sind mit Regenzeit in dieser Zeit des Jahres. Sie wuchs bis zum heutigen Tag sehr schön, bis mein Gärtner gehackt der alle Blätter und Niederlassungen der schlechten Anlage und alles, was jetzt ist das wichtigste Stammzellen. Er sagte, es sei notwendig für die ordnungsgemäße Wachstum. Ist es notwendig, um alle Blätter und Zweige? oder u müssen nur leichte Schneiden? Kein Teil der Anlage war tot, und sein Wachstum war ausgezeichnet. Bitte geben Sie mir mit, was zu tun ist.

Wir haben ein Haus Spanien, wo wir für 3 Jahre hatte zwei blühende Bougainvillea Pflanzen. In diesem Jahr wird der lila Blumen hat einen weißen klebrig / pulverförmige Ablagerungen, die dann erscheint, um das Mauerwerk, auf dem die Anlage gebunden in. Wer weiß, was das ist und ob es möglich ist, sie zu behandeln?
Ich wohne in Sonoma Valley und meine Pflanzen Bougainvillea ist bei einigen sehr großen Felsen auf dem Hügel. Es wird ein bisschen Wasser aus einem Tropf-System und wurde dabei sehr gut für die beiden Jahre habe ich es. In diesem Jahr blühte schön, aber dann im Laufe der letzten Woche, in der die bunten Deckblätter auf etwa 3 / 4 der Anlage wurden verbrannt und irgendwie sind alle schwach. Wir haben einige Mitte 90-Grad-Tagen, aber ich dachte, sie lieben die Wärme. Ich habe nicht befruchtet, da Anfang des Frühlings, so ich bin mir nicht sicher, warum die Deckblätter haben verbrannt. Irgendwelche Ideen, warum? Wie kann ich mehr Blumen (Deckblätter) für den Rest der Saison? Soll ich deadhead die Deckblätter verbrannt? Thanks, Brian
Ich habe meine Bougainvillea in Florida und es war in voller Blüte. Wir pflanzten sie auf dem Hof in den Mitgliedstaaten sehr groß, aber hat keine Blumen, was auch immer, hat aber sehr viele und große grüne Blätter ... und viele Dornen, außer, dass sie sieht gut aus! Nur keine Blüten.

Ich war mit einem orange Bourgainvillea und seine wachsende wie verrückt, leider ist es nur geradeaus, ohne jede Seite Zweigstellen. Anders als es scheint, dass sehr gesund! Kann jemand mir sagen, wie man sie in eine Art der Standard-Form?
Hey, great site. Ich lebe in Bali und ich haben 2 reifen Bourgainvilleas, die ich vor kurzem repotted. Leider haben beide schlecht reagiert mit allen Blätter fallen ab und neue Schwellenländer nur auf die aus ein paar Tage später. Ich denke, die Wurzeln Mai beschädigt wurden im repotting exersize. Kann mir jemand einen Rat bieten, wie die Datei wieder ein Werk mit beschädigten Wurzeln.

Ich wohne 30 Meilen westlich von Houston in der Fulshear TX Bereich. Anfang November'07, die ich erwarb, 8 schöne Red Bouganvillea Pflanzen bereits ausgebildete Baum in Form. Von 6 m bis 3 m Höhe. Sie sind in einem guten und gesunden Zustand blühen. Sie currentlly sind in der großen Kunststoffbehälter Ich habe sie im IE, 65, 35 und 20 Gallonen Behälter pro Baum Größe. Ich möchte diese Anlage auf dem Hof in voller Sonne. Der Züchter sagte mir, super Phosphat und Kalk zu neutralisieren die Alkalität des Bodens in diesem Bereich zu behandeln, die Löcher für das Einpflanzen. Die Erzeuger liegt über 100 km von mir. Zwei Fragen. Wie kann ich die Behandlung der Löcher für das Einpflanzen und soll ich warten bis zum Frühjahr zu transplantieren sie in den Boden in diesem Bereich Klima. Ich habe immer noch im beweglichen Zustand, in die Töpfe. Alle Tipps für den Schutz meiner Investitionen geschätzt.

Ich bin in Orlando, FL. Mein vergossen wurde blühenden Bougainvillea schön, bis ein Frost. Ich habe sie in meine Garage für die kalten Nächte, aber es ging immer noch eine Menge ihrer Blüten und Blätter. Jetzt sind die Blüten wieder, aber die Blätter nicht zu sein scheinen. Hi, I live in London, England and I’ve had a 4 foot bougainvillea since last summer. It was fine last year on my south facing balcony (had maximum sunlight all day) and I brought it indoors during the winter, which was all fine. The weather started to get really warm a few weeks ago, so I put it back out on my balcony, unfortunately it then snowed (mad global warming weather!) and I didn’t bring it back inside in time. Now it the plant seems to have dried out and the flowers and leaves are really cripsy (although haven’t dropped off). This was 3 weeks ago and I’ve brought it back inside in a warm and sunny position, been watering it once a week and hoping it will come back. Any ideas? Time to cut it down 2/3 and start again?

I have just been given a Bougainvillea About four feet high which deer have munched quite a bit off. Can I cut it down by about half as it will be going in a pot outside my front door in full sun. I live in Athens Georgia and have just purchased 4 hanging boug. baskets. The temps are supposed to go down to 44 and 42 the next couple of nights. Ja. only had it about 2 weeks now. its quite small but had a bunch of pink flowers at the top and the bottom. all of the bottom flowers have fallen off and a few of the top ones. i live in a flat so there is no option of me putting it outside.
I have a bougainvillea that is a couple of months old, showing new growth, but with the new leaves have black spots (small black raised dots, looking like bugs), as well as beige colored flakes sprinkled all over the stamen and leaves???? What is it?
Yes, and they are definitely tiny bugs. When I scraped them, they came off easily and are dark green, but also there are light green ones, which I couldn’t detect until I scraped them off.

I have 2 Bougainvillea vines in red that are about 4 feet tall. I originally was going to train them to be on a trellis, but cannot do that. Can I train them to be bushes and use in the landscape that way? Thank you
I live in Dallas and have a beautiful fuschia boug that I take in the garage every winter. It bounces back in the spring and looks great all summer. This spring it was magnificent until the first hot day in the low 90s. Knowing it needs to be a bit stressed, I was watering every 2 days and had given it 3-month food about a month ago. (It also sits in direct sun.) After the first hot day (when several of my petunias wilted and died), it dropped all of its flowers. It still has leaves. Will it bloom again? What can I do to prompt more blooming? Is this normal?

Hi. I have the red/pink bougainvilleas and purple that I bought at the same time. I’ve transplanted the 1 red and 1 purple plant into one pot. Red one seems to be doing well but the purple one’s leaves and flowers all dried off. I pruned it until I saw green, on the base, I see a few tiny leaves but that’s it.
What should I do at this point?
I also have planted a red one and purple one in the ground a couple of feet from each other. Again, the purple one doesn’t seem to be doing well at all, I cut it down to about 4 inches from the ground. The red one seemed to be be growing some leaves and flowers, now they’re gone and no more has come up so far. I bought peat moss and dug about an inch and placed some, then put dirt on top of that. I noticed that when I water, the water seems to stand for less than a minute before getting into the dirt/soil. Please help. Want to save my bougainvilleas.
I received a boug hanging basket for mothers day and it was beautiful then. But, it hasn’t had many new blooms. Just a bunch of long spindly branches with old spiky shoots on them. Do I cut the whole branch back, or just the spikes?
In the postings, it is suggested using 1/2 strength fertilizer to boost growth of the bracts/flowers on Bougainvillea. At one point, 10-10-10 was noted and at another 20-20-20 was noted. So, does this mean taking a 20-20-20 solution and dilute it by half according to the package directions? ie, 1/2 t instead of 1 t to gallon of water? Thanks.

I have 2 bougs vines on each post of my pergola, in late spring they were doing great beautiful dark green leaves and loads of fuschia blooms, now one of the vines is doing bad, it’s leaves are turning yellow and no blooms. I received an old Bonsai Bougainvillea today and when it was unpacked, found only a few (under 5) leaves attached. The entire tree, save the 5 leaves is bare. It is mid-summer here in SW PA. I watered the plant and placed it in a moderately sunny location. What do I need to do to promote new leaves, if anything.

I brought two very small Bougainvillea plants back to Massachusetts with me, planted them in full sun, in a large pot, and gave them some plant food and a little manure. They have grown like crazy in two months, and are nearly ten times their original size with huge, lush, dark green leaves. The problem is that there is not a single fuschia flower on it. It’s growing so well, but why no flowers? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi, I’m living in the San Francisco Bay Area and have a lovely energetic bougainvillea just outside my livingroom windows. I want to train it into a tree form. The previous owner of my house planted it so that its base is only a few inches from the house and it’s between 2 windows with only about 1 1/2 feet of space between them (the 2 windows). The plant is about 8 feet high. I’ve cut all lower branches to encourage growth above the windows, but it has become top-heavy; it flops over and away from the house and smothers my garden plants. I’ve resorted to propping it up with an above-ground stake, but…. I’ve heard that staking it (sinking posts at its delicate roots) could damage and kill it, and wooden stakes would rot. I can’t find anyone who knows what to do other than drill braces into my stucco house walls to support it, but that would compromise the integrity of the exterior of the house to rain. Any ideas?

I live in San Diego CA and have 3 boug vines espaliered on a wall. They are 30 yrs. old. For the past 2 years the central plant has dropped its leaves, new growth appears, then drops while immature. The leaf surface appears ‘bumpy’. The adjacent plants are healthy and vigorous. We sprayed with Spinnosad. Deep watered. No joy. To break this cycle we recently cut the plant back to bare trunks. Any idea what is happening?

Thanks for the feedback. Not scale. The leaves are thin and slightly ‘wavy’, they lack substance and retain the light green/bronze of new growth instead of darkening and maturing. Rather as if the plant is unable to create healthy leaves. Invisible sucking insect or a virus? Lynne
I live in Palm Springs, CA (desert) with no gardening experience. I just returned from a two week trip. Most of my boug’s new growth leaves have been munched. Also, there is some fine webbing on some leaves and there was a lot of black soot on the pavement below. I haven’t detected bougainvillea looper when I looked close, but that’s what it probably is. Can you confirm? I didn’t know if it was something else because of the webbing and all the black soot on the ground. Thanks.
I live in Colorado and was given a Boug hanging plant in May. It lost all of it’s leaves and flowers, but came back incredibly beautiful throughout the entire summer. Now there are white spots on the pink flowers. They just look like colorless areas on the flowers. What could this be? Also, I would love to keep it alive throughout the winter in this area, what would I do?

Are you overhead spraying the flowers with water? Are the spots fuzzy? Are the spots turning brownish? Are they just on the flower bracts and not the leaves?
I live in southwest florida. When should I prune, fertilize and water the bougainvillea ? Thank you.

I need help!
I recently replanted two bouganvillea’s from a pot into the ground in my Los Angeles garden. There were two plants in the same pot which I separated and planted in different spots. After a week in the ground neither are looking very happy and I’m worried I damaged the root ball’s when replanting them. I’m hoping there is something I can do to rescue these???? Any help would surely be appreciated - It is so sad seeing these once bountiful plants looking so droopy…. Thanks in advance.

I purchased a small bougainvillea plant during the early spring, it is blooming and grown very well as a container plant; however, I live in Zone 7. Since it is quite a large pot I am reluctant to to move it to my garage. Do you have any alternative ways that I can frost proof it instead?

I live in Fort Lauderdale, FL and I have a beautiful Bougainvillea that I planted about one and a half years ago. It had blooms on it when I planted it. It has grown over eight feet high and vines over beautifully, lush and healthy. It has not bloomed since the initial flowers fell off. My neighbor has the same colored Bougainvillea and it blooms a lot. I know that they do not like much water, so the only water it gets is when it rains, which it does a lot during our rainy season (but still does not bloom during the dry season). I cannot understand why mine and my neighbor’s are both outside, get the same rain, but mine does not bloom. I love the color and planted it with love to bloom. Please help!
We have a villa in the Algarve, Portugal where there is a beautiful purple mature (at least 20 years old) bougainvillea .
This year the leaves have developed a white sticky powder and many of the branches appear lifeless, it is a sorry sight.
Has anyone come across this problem and is there a solution.
We have 2 bougs that we planted 2 years ago. They have been mostly leafless and flowerless and grown very little. They are in full sun. Previously we had 2 bougs in same places that thrived beautifully - but frost got them. Ideas?
Wintering bougainvillea
Hi I live in Albuquerque, NM and have three beautiful bougs. All are quite big and are planted in large pots. I’ve heard about taking them in for the winter so they won’t freeze. So my question is, do I just store them in my garage (zero light) until spring or do they need light during their dormant period? Thanks for your help!
I live in Los Angeles and was just gifted with a potted bougainvillea . I want to put in the ground, but I’m not sure when. One (SoCal focused) book said June, but it seems that after the danger of frost would be okay to plant? I am worried about keeping it in a small pot for too long.
I live in Florida and have a beautiful bougainvillea that is planted in the ground ..it was so woody and too big so I had it pruned back to about 4 inches and its starting to get good growth but I would like to train it to be more tree like than bushy..please advise..thank you Sharon
