Bougainvillea, también conocida como flor de papel es un nativo de Brasil y pertenece a la familia Nyctaginaceae. Esta trepadora tropical es ideal para cestas colgantes y crecido en contenedores en los que puede cascada su vibrante florecimiento vides. La flor es insignificantes en comparación con la de colores brillantes, papel-como brácteas que rodean la flor.
Compré dos hermosas buganvillas plantas esta primavera. Me gustaría traer para ellos en el invierno. No tengo un sótano y el garaje sería demasiado frío. Alguna sugerencia en cuanto a la forma de almacenarlos en invierno? Debo podar cuando traigo en? En caso de que lo puse cerca de una ventana o debe ser oscuro?
Bougainvillea son plantas tropicales en la zona resistente 8-10. Se toleran temperaturas tan frías como 30-40 grados, sino que necesitan protección o puede congelar y morir.
Para su winterover buganvillas en interiores, mantenerla en el mejor, más brillante en la sala de la casa (al este o norte ventana) con temperaturas entre 50-60 grados. Si se pone demasiado caliente, pero que crecerá y lanky mirada pálida debido a la falta de luz solar. Menos de agua durante el invierno, permitiendo que el suelo se seque entre riego y no fertilizar. Puedes podar las plantas para que sea más manejable, pero las principales poda debe hacerse en la primavera se inicia antes de un nuevo crecimiento. Se puede dejar caer sus hojas durante este tiempo, pero la idea es mantener la planta viva hasta la primavera.
WINTEROVER Bougainvillea
En regiones más frías Bougainvillea también pueden ser almacenados en un sótano en suspenso o en el garaje. Reducir el riego, la planta de reducir lo suficiente para que sea manejable y almacenar en un lugar fresco y oscuro cuarto. La planta dejará caer sus hojas. Compruebe periódicamente el suelo durante el invierno, el riego sólo ligeramente para evitar que se sequen completamente. No fertilizar durante este tiempo.

Poda buganvillas
Tengo una maceta buganvillas que ha perdido un montón de hojas y las ramas que han perdido las hojas se secaron y murió. También tiene una buena cantidad de nuevo crecimiento en otras áreas - que la planta bastante irregular. (crecimiento de algunos nuevos puntos muertos). ¿Qué debo hacer lo que la planta está llena de un nuevo crecimiento?

Poda Bougainvillea
Vivimos en Houston, Texas. Nuestro muy maduro buganvillas siempre ha florecido grandes. Pero se está saliendo de control de tamaño de sabios. Poda en la parte trasera me duro a fines de marzo, después de nuestra última congelar. Las hojas han crecido, pero aún no las flores (que por lo general tiene plena flores por ahora). ¿Me darán flores este año? I podar o no demasiado duro o demasiado tarde?

Yo vivo en el sur de California. Tengo un buganvillas (rojo) a pleno sol. Es por lo menos 30 años de edad. Traté de conseguir que se extienden sobre una zona de porche sucursales, permitiendo a crecer en esa dirección. Después de varios años, tiene las ramas leñosas y muy escaso crecimiento de la hoja. ¿Puedo podar de nuevo a la madera en estas ramas largas (quizá 15 metros) para promover el crecimiento, o debo cortarlas despegue y la promoción de nuevas sucursales para cubrir la zona que quiero?

Plantamos el pasado mes de agosto una Bougainvillea en nuestro patio. Vivimos en Mexico en la montaña, donde hay algunas muy hermosas plantas Bougainvillea. Que floreció inmediatamente, pero no ha florecido ahora por algún tiempo. Parece que puede tener errores porque las hojas no parecen saludables-rizado y arrugados. Sin embargo, me hizo notar que hay un nuevo crecimiento. Debemos pulverización con plaguicidas o una licencia y esperar lo mejor.

Ayuda! No sé nada acerca de la jardinería y tienen una hermosa púrpura Bougainvillea. He tenido que fuera y en un punto perdido todas las flores y algunas hojas. Fertilizados y me subieron a un ciclo de riego y las flores volvieron mejor que nunca. Yo vivo en Louisville KY, y con el tiempo obtener más fríos que he llevado dentro del árbol. Yo vivo fuera de Longview, Texas (zona 7), y acaba de comprar la más hermosa de color naranja quemado (tener y van!) Boug. y se preguntaba si podía planta en el suelo o simplemente debo mantenerla en un contenedor? El principal problema que tengo es que no tengo en cualquier lugar adecuado para guardar dentro durante los meses de invierno. Hacemos llegar alto en el 20 y 30 años durante el invierno. Es tan hermosa y nunca he visto un boug este color antes y yo definitivamente no quiero perderla.

Yo vivo en el Condado de Sonoma Valley y es mi buganvillas plantados entre algunas rocas muy grandes en la ladera. Se vuelve un poco de agua de un sistema de goteo, y ha estado haciendo muy bien para los dos años que he tenido. Este año floreció maravillosamente, pero luego durante la última semana las coloridas brácteas en aproximadamente 3 / 4 de la planta se han quemado y son todos de alguna manera se perdió. Tuvimos algunos mediados de los 90 días-grado, pero he pensado que les gusta el calor. Tengo mis buganvillas en Florida y que se encontraba en plena floración. Estamos plantados en el patio de la EM en su muy alta, pero ahora no tiene flores, pero lo que de manera cada vez tiene un montón de grandes hojas verdes ... y un montón de espinas, excepto los que se ve bien! No sólo flores.

Me dieron una naranja y su creciente Bourgainvillea como locos, por desgracia no es más que ir hacia arriba sin ningún tipo de ramas laterales. Otros que parece que es muy saludable! ¿Puede alguien decirme cómo hacer que en un tipo de forma?
Hey, gran sitio. Yo vivo en Bali y tengo 2 maduros Bourgainvilleas que recientemente repotted. Lamentablemente ambos han respondido mal con todas las hojas se caen y otros nuevos que salen sólo para morir pocos días después. Creo que las raíces puedan haber sido dañados en el repotting exersize. ¿Puede alguien ofrecer ningún consejo sobre cómo recuperar una planta con raíces dañadas.

Sólo quería decir que estos puestos sobre buganvillas han sido tan útil para mí. Traje mi boug. para el invierno y la pérdida de las hojas y se seca a cabo. Yo vivo 30 millas al oeste de Houston TX Fulshear en el área. A principios de noviembre'07, he comprado 8 hermosas Roja Bouganvillea plantas ya capacitados en forma de árbol. Que van de 6 pies de altura de 3 pies. Están en buena condición de salud y florecimiento. Currentlly que se encuentran en los grandes contenedores de plástico que he comprado es decir, en ellos, 65, 35 y 20 contenedores por galón el tamaño del árbol. Quiero plantar en el patio a pleno sol. El productor me dijo que el uso de cal y súper fosfato para neutralizar la alcalinidad de los suelos de esta área para el tratamiento de los agujeros para plantar. El productor está situado a más de 100 millas de mí. Dos preguntas. ¿Cómo hago para ir exactamente sobre el tratamiento de los agujeros para la plantación y debo esperar hasta la primavera para el trasplante en el terreno en esta zona de clima. Yo vivo en Singapur y tenemos 2 ollas de naranja buganvillas plantas en mi balcón. Consiguen saludable cantidad de luz solar, pero no están creciendo bien recientemente. Estoy en Orlando, FL. Mi maceta buganvillas en flor es un bonito hasta las heladas. Me trasladé en mi garaje para las noches frías, pero se redujo aún muchos de sus flores y hojas. Ahora las flores están regresando, pero las hojas no parecen ser. ¿Debo dejar que por sí sola, o abonar, o de ciruela, o qué?
Yo vivo en España y ahora tienen un apartamento con jardín. El suelo es de arcilla. Nuestros vecinos tienen varias buganvillas que son sólo dos años y son prósperos y en plena flor de su jardín, aunque como se acaba de agua como la nuestra. He comprado seis bungavilla pero después de dos meses que han caído todas las flores y las hojas y todo lo que queda es de tres pies tallos en cada planta.

Hi, I live in London, England and I’ve had a 4 foot bougainvillea since last summer. It was fine last year on my south facing balcony (had maximum sunlight all day) and I brought it indoors during the winter, which was all fine. The weather started to get really warm a few weeks ago, so I put it back out on my balcony, unfortunately it then snowed (mad global warming weather!) and I didn’t bring it back inside in time. Now it the plant seems to have dried out and the flowers and leaves are really cripsy (although haven’t dropped off). This was 3 weeks ago and I’ve brought it back inside in a warm and sunny position, been watering it once a week and hoping it will come back. Any ideas? Time to cut it down 2/3 and start again?

I have just been given a Bougainvillea About four feet high which deer have munched quite a bit off. Can I cut it down by about half as it will be going in a pot outside my front door in full sun. I live in Athens Georgia and have just purchased 4 hanging boug. baskets. The temps are supposed to go down to 44 and 42 the next couple of nights. Yes. only had it about 2 weeks now. its quite small but had a bunch of pink flowers at the top and the bottom. all of the bottom flowers have fallen off and a few of the top ones. i live in a flat so there is no option of me putting it outside.

Yes, and they are definitely tiny bugs. When I scraped them, they came off easily and are dark green, but also there are light green ones, which I couldn’t detect until I scraped them off.

I have 2 Bougainvillea vines in red that are about 4 feet tall. I originally was going to train them to be on a trellis, but cannot do that. Can I train them to be bushes and use in the landscape that way? Gracias
I live in Dallas and have a beautiful fuschia boug that I take in the garage every winter. It bounces back in the spring and looks great all summer. This spring it was magnificent until the first hot day in the low 90s. Knowing it needs to be a bit stressed, I was watering every 2 days and had given it 3-month food about a month ago. (It also sits in direct sun.) After the first hot day (when several of my petunias wilted and died), it dropped all of its flowers. It still has leaves. Will it bloom again? Hi. I have the red/pink bougainvilleas and purple that I bought at the same time. I’ve transplanted the 1 red and 1 purple plant into one pot. Red one seems to be doing well but the purple one’s leaves and flowers all dried off. I pruned it until I saw green, on the base, I see a few tiny leaves but that’s it.
What should I do at this point?
I also have planted a red one and purple one in the ground a couple of feet from each other. Again, the purple one doesn’t seem to be doing well at all, I cut it down to about 4 inches from the ground. The red one seemed to be be growing some leaves and flowers, now they’re gone and no more has come up so far. I bought peat moss and dug about an inch and placed some, then put dirt on top of that. I noticed that when I water, the water seems to stand for less than a minute before getting into the dirt/soil. Please help. Want to save my bougainvilleas.
I received a boug hanging basket for mothers day and it was beautiful then. But, it hasn’t had many new blooms. Just a bunch of long spindly branches with old spiky shoots on them. Do I cut the whole branch back, or just the spikes?
In the postings, it is suggested using 1/2 strength fertilizer to boost growth of the bracts/flowers on Bougainvillea. At one point, 10-10-10 was noted and at another 20-20-20 was noted. So, does this mean taking a 20-20-20 solution and dilute it by half according to the package directions? ie, 1/2 t instead of 1 t to gallon of water? Gracias.

I have 2 bougs vines on each post of my pergola, in late spring they were doing great beautiful dark green leaves and loads of fuschia blooms, now one of the vines is doing bad, it’s leaves are turning yellow and no blooms. I received an old Bonsai Bougainvillea today and when it was unpacked, found only a few (under 5) leaves attached. The entire tree, save the 5 leaves is bare. It is mid-summer here in SW PA. I watered the plant and placed it in a moderately sunny location. What do I need to do to promote new leaves, if anything.

I brought two very small Bougainvillea plants back to Massachusetts with me, planted them in full sun, in a large pot, and gave them some plant food and a little manure. They have grown like crazy in two months, and are nearly ten times their original size with huge, lush, dark green leaves. The problem is that there is not a single fuschia flower on it. It’s growing so well, but why no flowers? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi, I’m living in the San Francisco Bay Area and have a lovely energetic bougainvillea just outside my livingroom windows. I want to train it into a tree form. The previous owner of my house planted it so that its base is only a few inches from the house and it’s between 2 windows with only about 1 1/2 feet of space between them (the 2 windows). The plant is about 8 feet high. I’ve cut all lower branches to encourage growth above the windows, but it has become top-heavy; it flops over and away from the house and smothers my garden plants. I’ve resorted to propping it up with an above-ground stake, but…. I’ve heard that staking it (sinking posts at its delicate roots) could damage and kill it, and wooden stakes would rot. I can’t find anyone who knows what to do other than drill braces into my stucco house walls to support it, but that would compromise the integrity of the exterior of the house to rain. Any ideas?

I live in San Diego CA and have 3 boug vines espaliered on a wall. They are 30 yrs. old. For the past 2 years the central plant has dropped its leaves, new growth appears, then drops while immature. The leaf surface appears ‘bumpy’. The adjacent plants are healthy and vigorous. We sprayed with Spinnosad. Deep watered. No joy. To break this cycle we recently cut the plant back to bare trunks. Any idea what is happening?

Thanks for the feedback. Not scale. The leaves are thin and slightly ‘wavy’, they lack substance and retain the light green/bronze of new growth instead of darkening and maturing. Rather as if the plant is unable to create healthy leaves. Invisible sucking insect or a virus? Lynne
I live in Palm Springs, CA (desert) with no gardening experience. I just returned from a two week trip. Most of my boug’s new growth leaves have been munched. Also, there is some fine webbing on some leaves and there was a lot of black soot on the pavement below. I haven’t detected bougainvillea looper when I looked close, but that’s what it probably is. Can you confirm? I didn’t know if it was something else because of the webbing and all the black soot on the ground. Gracias.
I live in Colorado and was given a Boug hanging plant in May. It lost all of it’s leaves and flowers, but came back incredibly beautiful throughout the entire summer. Now there are white spots on the pink flowers. They just look like colorless areas on the flowers. What could this be? Also, I would love to keep it alive throughout the winter in this area, what would I do?

I need help!
I recently replanted two bouganvillea’s from a pot into the ground in my Los Angeles garden. There were two plants in the same pot which I separated and planted in different spots. After a week in the ground neither are looking very happy and I’m worried I damaged the root ball’s when replanting them. I’m hoping there is something I can do to rescue these???? Any help would surely be appreciated - It is so sad seeing these once bountiful plants looking so droopy…. Thanks in advance.

I purchased a small bougainvillea plant during the early spring, it is blooming and grown very well as a container plant; however, I live in Zone 7. Since it is quite a large pot I am reluctant to to move it to my garage. Do you have any alternative ways that I can frost proof it instead?

I live in Fort Lauderdale, FL and I have a beautiful Bougainvillea that I planted about one and a half years ago. It had blooms on it when I planted it. It has grown over eight feet high and vines over beautifully, lush and healthy. It has not bloomed since the initial flowers fell off. My neighbor has the same colored Bougainvillea and it blooms a lot. I know that they do not like much water, so the only water it gets is when it rains, which it does a lot during our rainy season (but still does not bloom during the dry season). I cannot understand why mine and my neighbor’s are both outside, get the same rain, but mine does not bloom. I love the color and planted it with love to bloom. Please help!
We have a villa in the Algarve, Portugal where there is a beautiful purple mature (at least 20 years old) bougainvillea .
This year the leaves have developed a white sticky powder and many of the branches appear lifeless, it is a sorry sight.
Has anyone come across this problem and is there a solution.

Hi I live in Albuquerque, NM and have three beautiful bougs. All are quite big and are planted in large pots. I’ve heard about taking them in for the winter so they won’t freeze. So my question is, do I just store them in my garage (zero light) until spring or do they need light during their dormant period? Thanks for your help!
I live in Los Angeles and was just gifted with a potted bougainvillea . I want to put in the ground, but I’m not sure when. One (SoCal focused) book said June, but it seems that after the danger of frost would be okay to plant? I am worried about keeping it in a small pot for too long.
I live in Florida and have a beautiful bougainvillea that is planted in the ground ..it was so woody and too big so I had it pruned back to about 4 inches and its starting to get good growth but I would like to train it to be more tree like than bushy..please advise..thank you Sharon
I live in Phoenix, AZ and have just bought my first potted Boug. It was gorgeous at the garden center but after only a week, the pink bracts are staring to have dried out, brown edges. It gets full sun most of day and is on our drip system. The soil seems moist but not wet. What could be going wrong so fast? Thanks..Susan
