Garden tip
I string heavy fishing line about 12" high around the plants I wish to protect. The deer bump into it at night, can't see it , don't know what they are dealing with and leave. Works for me. R

Is the Gerbera Daisy deer resistant?

According to the U of C Davis, Gerbera seem to be a "safe bet" for deer resistance and Clemson U. claims Gerbera can be occasionally damaged by deer. It's not on their top ten choices of their favorite food. To be on the safe side spray them with a deer repelent early on to discourage any grazing. more info on Gerbera daisy

I'm looking for a deer repellent recipe that I can make instead of buying it. Do you know of any??

Here's a deer repellant recipe. Beat 1 egg with 1/2 cup of milk. Add 1 tBsp of cooking oil and 1 tBsp of dish detergent along with a few dashes of Tabasco sauce and garlic juice. Add the mixture to one gallon of water. Store covered in container. Fill spray bottle with mixture and spray every two weeks and after a heavy rain. The unpleasant taste and smell usually will keep them away for a while. ref: Chicagoland Gardening magazine
