Bougainvillea zorg
Bougainvillea, ook wel aangeduid als Paper bloem is geboren in Brazilië en behoort tot de Nyctaginaceae familie. Deze tropische klimmer is ideaal voor opknoping manden en geteeld in containers waar het kan cascade haar levendige bloeiende wijnstokken. De bloem is weinig vergeleken met de felgekleurde, papier-achtige schutbladeren rond de bloem.
Ik kocht twee prachtige bougainvillea planten dit voorjaar. Ik wil graag om ze in voor de winter. Ik heb geen kelder en de garage zou te koud. Eventuele suggesties over de wijze waarop ze opslaan in de winter? Moet ik pruimedant wanneer ik hem in? Moet ik het de buurt van een raam of mag het donker?
Bougainvillea zijn tropische planten winterhard in zone 8-10. Het zal tolereren temperaturen zo cool als 30-40 graden, maar moet de bescherming of het kan vriezen en sterven.
Om uw winterover bougainvillea binnenshuis, hou het in de coolste, helderste kamer in het huis (het oosten of noorden venster) met een temperatuur tussen de 50-60 graden. Als het te warm krijgt, zal groeien, maar kijken en sluik blond wegens onvoldoende zonlicht. Minder water in de winter waardoor de bodem te droog tussen drenken en niet bemesten. U kunt snoeien de plant te maken beheersbaar maar grote snoeien moet gebeuren in het voorjaar, voordat de nieuwe groei begint. Het kan vallen zijn bladeren gedurende deze tijd, maar het idee is om de plant in leven tot het voorjaar.
WINTEROVER Bougainvillea
In koudere gebieden Bougainvillea kan ook worden opgeslagen, slapend in een kelder of garage. Verminderen drenken, terug de plant net genoeg om het beheersbaar en bewaart op een koele donkere kamer. De fabriek zal dalen al zijn bladeren. Controleer de bodem periodiek tijdens de winter, drenken licht net op de hoogte te houden van volledig uitdrogen. Niet bemesten in deze tijd.

Snoeien bougainvillea
Ik heb een gepot bougainvillea dat heeft verloren veel bladeren en de takken die verloren die bladeren hebben opgedroogd en stierf. Het heeft ook een redelijk bedrag van de nieuwe groei in andere gebieden - maken de plant heel vlekkerig. (sommige nieuwe groei aantal dode hoek). Wat moet ik doen zodat de plant is vol van nieuwe groei?

Snoeien Bougainvillea
We leven in Houston, Texas. Onze zeer volwassen bougainvillea is altijd bloomed geweldig. Maar is is getting out of control grootte verstandig. Ik gesnoeid in terug harde eind maart, na onze laatste bevriezen. De bladeren zijn allemaal gegroeid terug, maar nog geen bloemen (we hadden meestal vol bloemen door nu). Krijg ik bloemen dit jaar? Of heb ik pruimedant te hard of te laat?

Ik woon in Zuid-Californië. Ik heb een Bougainvillea (rood) in de volle zon. Het is ten minste 30 jaar oud. Ik heb geprobeerd om het uit te breiden over een veranda gebied door filialen om te groeien in die richting. Na een aantal jaren, de takken heb woody en ik krijg erg dun blad groei. Kan ik pruimedant terug naar het bos op deze lange takken (misschien 15 voet) om de groei te bevorderen, of moet ik knip ze uit en de bevordering van nieuwe filialen ter dekking van het gebied ik wil?
Kunt u tips over scheidslijnen Bougainvillea. Mine is vrij groot (potmaat is 2 "en ik ben bang is om root gebonden en wil de kloof goed) dankzij

Ik ben in Phuket, Thailand en wil graag advies over de verzorging van Bougainvillea in dit klimaat is tropisch. Ik heb een geautomatiseerd 10 minuten twee keer per dag sprinkler systeem voor de tuin en de bodem heeft een goede drainage.

We plantten een Bougainvillea afgelopen augustus in onze achtertuin. We leven in Mexico in de bergen, waar er een aantal zeer mooie Bougainvillea planten. Het bloomed meteen maar heeft geen bloemen nu enige tijd. Het lijkt erop dat hij kan hebben bugs, omdat de bladeren niet kijken gezond-gekruld en shriveled. Maar ik heb gemerkt dat er enkele nieuwe groei. Moeten we spray met een bestrijdingsmiddel of te laten en het beste van hopen.

Ik heb een grote pot van fuschia boug. dat ik binnen elke winter. Ik krijg twee bloomings binnen. Ik vond het buiten dit voorjaar en het is nu frambozen / rode papaver gekleurd. (Die niet verder gaat met mijn warme roze tuin) Hoe krijg ik de fuschia kleur terug. Miracid? Bedankt

I am trying to pot perfect rode bougainvillea. Ik heb te horen gekregen B. Karst is het beste en kocht een paar te noemen. Heb gemerkt dat wanneer haakjes zijn jonge ze zijn rood en dan naar een volwassen Pinker kleur. Is pH van de bodem een weg te gaan om ze op de roder kant?
Ik heb een Bougainvillea dat Katrina overleefde de overstroming. Het is al bijna 2 jaar en de plant is groter en mooier dan ooit. Ik wil om het te verplaatsen naar mijn nieuwe huis, maar het groeit in een houten kuip dat we uit elkaar valt. Wat is de beste manier om deze te verplaatsen. Ik heb 2 mooie Bougainvillea, Ik woon in het noord oosten van Louisiana, kunnen ze worden geplant in de grond? Of hebben zij nodig hebben om te blijven in containers?

Help! Ik weet niets over het tuinieren en hebben een prachtige paarse Bougainvillea. Ik heb het buiten en op een punt verloren alle bloemen en bladeren. Ik bevrucht en kreeg op een regelmatige cyclus drenken en de bloemen kwam terug beter dan ooit. Ik woon in Louisville KY en met het weer kouder wordt krijg ik heb gebracht de boom binnen. Na het lezen van alle reacties hierboven ik weet heb ik waarschijnlijk over het water. De bloemen en bladeren beginnen te verwelken en drop. Ik weet niet zeker wat te verwachten in de wintermaanden en andere schaal dan terug op het water en houden ze in de zon, is er iets anders zou ik doen? Wat moet ik verwachten dat er te laten uitzien als in de winter? Bedankt!

Ik woon buiten Longview, TX (zone 7) en hebben zojuist gekochte de mooiste oranje (ga Longhorns!) Boug. en vroeg me af of ik kon planten in de grond of moet ik gewoon in een container? Het belangrijkste probleem dat ik heb is dat ik niet overal geschikt voor het opslaan binnen tijdens de wintermaanden. Wij gaan in de hoge 20's en 30's tijdens de winter. Het is zo mooi en ik heb nooit gezien dat een boug deze kleur voor en ik zeker niet willen verliezen.
Ik woon in Gujarat, India en ik heb veel bougainvillea in mijn tuin. we zijn met regenseizoen in deze tijd van het jaar. Ze groeide prachtig tot deze dag tot mijn tuinman van gehakte Alle bladeren en takken van de armen plant en dat blijft nu is de belangrijkste stam. zei hij dat het noodzakelijk was voor de goede groei. Is het nodig om alle de bladeren en takken? of u hoeft alleen lichte trimmen? geen enkel deel van de plant was dood en haar groei was excellent. kunt u mij adviseren wat te doen.

We hebben een huis Spanje, waar we voor 3 jaar had twee bloeiende bougainvillea planten. Dit jaar is de paarse bloemen met een witte kleverige / poederachtig deponeren die dan lijkt om naar het metselwerk van de plant is gebonden bent Weet iemand wat dit is en of het mogelijk is om te behandelen?
Ik woon in Sonoma Valley en mijn bougainvillea is uitgezet onder een aantal zeer grote keien op de heuvel. Het wordt een beetje water uit een infuus systeem en is zeer goed te doen voor de twee jaar heb ik het. Dit jaar bloomed prachtig maar dan in de afgelopen week heeft de kleurrijke bloemschubben op ongeveer 3 / 4 van de plant zijn verbrand of andere manier en zijn allemaal verdwenen. We hebben een aantal tussentijdse 90 graaddagen maar ik dacht dat ze gek op de warmte. Ik heb niet bevrucht sinds het begin van de lente, dus ik weet niet zeker waarom de bloemschubben heb verbrand. Enig idee waarom? Hoe krijg ik meer bloemen (schutbladen) voor de rest van het seizoen? Moet ik finish de verbrande schutbladeren? Bedankt, Brian
Ik heb mijn Bougainvillea in Florida en is in volle bloei. Wij geplant in de werf in MS zijn nu erg hoog, maar heeft geen bloemen wat dus nooit, maar heeft veel van de grote groene bladeren ... en veel doornen, anders dan dat hij ziet er goed uit! Net geen bloei.

Ik kreeg een oranje Bourgainvillea en zijn steeds als een bezetene, helaas is het gewoon recht omhoog zonder zijarmen. Andere dan die lijkt erg gezond! Kan iemand me vertellen hoe je het in een standaard type vorm?
Hey, great site. Ik woon in Bali en ik heb 2 volwassen Bourgainvilleas die ik onlangs repotted. Helaas hebben beide reageerde slecht met alle bladeren vallen af en nieuwe opkomende alleen om te sterven uit een paar dagen later. Ik denk dat de wortels zijn beschadigd in de repotting exersize. Kan iedereen bieden een advies over het herstellen van een installatie met beschadigde wortels.

Ik wilde alleen maar zeggen dat deze posten over bougainvillea zijn dus nuttig voor mij. Ik bracht mijn boug. in voor de winter en het verlies van de bladeren en het uitgedroogd. Ik vond deze site bij het zoeken naar informatie over wat te doen voor haar en vond mijn antwoorden gewoon door het lezen van andere mensen posten. Ik woon 30 kilometer ten westen van Houston in de Fulshear TX gebied. Begin november'07, ik gekocht 8 prachtige Rode Bouganvillea planten reeds getraind in boom vorm. Variërend van 6 ft tot 3 m hoogte. Zij zijn in goede conditie en gezonde bloei. Zij currentlly zijn in de grote plastic containers Ik kocht ze in dat wil zeggen, 65, 35 en 20 liter containers per boom grootte. Ik wil planten in de tuin in de volle zon. De kweker vertelde me dat het gebruik van super fosfaat en kalk te neutraliseren de alkaliteit van de bodem in dit gebied voor de behandeling van de gaten voor opplant. De teler ligt ruim 100 kilometer van mij. Twee vragen. Hoe doe ik het behandelen van de gaten voor de beplanting en moet ik wachten tot de lente tot de transplantatie in de grond in dit klimaat gebied. Ik heb nog steeds in roerende staat in de potten. Eventuele tips voor het beschermen van mijn investering gewaardeerd.

Ik ben in Orlando, FL. Mijn gepot bougainvillea was prachtig bloeiende totdat een vorst. Ik verhuisde naar mijn garage voor de koude nachten, maar nog steeds vallen veel van de bloemen en bladeren. Nu is de bloei komen terug, maar de bladeren lijken niet te zijn. Moet ik gewoon laten staan, of bemesten, of snoeien, of wat?
Ik woon in Spanje en hebben nu een appartement met een tuin. De bodem is klei. Onze buren hebben een aantal bougainvillea dat zijn slechts twee jaar oud zijn en bloeiende en in volle bloei, hoewel hun tuin krijgt net als water, zoals de onze. Ik heb gekocht zes bougainvillea maar na twee maanden zijn gedaald alle bloemen en bladeren en alles wat overblijft is drie mond vloeit op elke plant.

Hi, I live in London, England and I’ve had a 4 foot bougainvillea since last summer. It was fine last year on my south facing balcony (had maximum sunlight all day) and I brought it indoors during the winter, which was all fine. The weather started to get really warm a few weeks ago, so I put it back out on my balcony, unfortunately it then snowed (mad global warming weather!) and I didn’t bring it back inside in time. Now it the plant seems to have dried out and the flowers and leaves are really cripsy (although haven’t dropped off). This was 3 weeks ago and I’ve brought it back inside in a warm and sunny position, been watering it once a week and hoping it will come back. Any ideas? Time to cut it down 2/3 and start again?

I have just been given a Bougainvillea About four feet high which deer have munched quite a bit off. Can I cut it down by about half as it will be going in a pot outside my front door in full sun. I live in Athens Georgia and have just purchased 4 hanging boug. baskets. The temps are supposed to go down to 44 and 42 the next couple of nights. Yes. only had it about 2 weeks now. its quite small but had a bunch of pink flowers at the top and the bottom. all of the bottom flowers have fallen off and a few of the top ones. i live in a flat so there is no option of me putting it outside.

Yes, and they are definitely tiny bugs. When I scraped them, they came off easily and are dark green, but also there are light green ones, which I couldn’t detect until I scraped them off.

I have 2 Bougainvillea vines in red that are about 4 feet tall. I originally was going to train them to be on a trellis, but cannot do that. Can I train them to be bushes and use in the landscape that way? Thank you
I live in Dallas and have a beautiful fuschia boug that I take in the garage every winter. It bounces back in the spring and looks great all summer. This spring it was magnificent until the first hot day in the low 90s. Knowing it needs to be a bit stressed, I was watering every 2 days and had given it 3-month food about a month ago. (It also sits in direct sun.) After the first hot day (when several of my petunias wilted and died), it dropped all of its flowers. It still has leaves. Will it bloom again? What can I do to prompt more blooming? Is this normal?

Hi. I have the red/pink bougainvilleas and purple that I bought at the same time. I’ve transplanted the 1 red and 1 purple plant into one pot. Red one seems to be doing well but the purple one’s leaves and flowers all dried off. I pruned it until I saw green, on the base, I see a few tiny leaves but that’s it.
What should I do at this point?
I also have planted a red one and purple one in the ground a couple of feet from each other. Again, the purple one doesn’t seem to be doing well at all, I cut it down to about 4 inches from the ground. The red one seemed to be be growing some leaves and flowers, now they’re gone and no more has come up so far. I bought peat moss and dug about an inch and placed some, then put dirt on top of that. I noticed that when I water, the water seems to stand for less than a minute before getting into the dirt/soil. Please help. Want to save my bougainvilleas.
I received a boug hanging basket for mothers day and it was beautiful then. But, it hasn’t had many new blooms. Just a bunch of long spindly branches with old spiky shoots on them. Do I cut the whole branch back, or just the spikes?
In the postings, it is suggested using 1/2 strength fertilizer to boost growth of the bracts/flowers on Bougainvillea. At one point, 10-10-10 was noted and at another 20-20-20 was noted. So, does this mean taking a 20-20-20 solution and dilute it by half according to the package directions? ie, 1/2 t instead of 1 t to gallon of water? Thanks.

I have 2 bougs vines on each post of my pergola, in late spring they were doing great beautiful dark green leaves and loads of fuschia blooms, now one of the vines is doing bad, it’s leaves are turning yellow and no blooms. I live in zone 9 and they get full sun. I water and feed both of them the same. I have loam soil over the clay. Why is one of them doing bad? Thank you
I received an old Bonsai Bougainvillea today and when it was unpacked, found only a few (under 5) leaves attached. The entire tree, save the 5 leaves is bare. It is mid-summer here in SW PA. I watered the plant and placed it in a moderately sunny location. What do I need to do to promote new leaves, if anything.

I brought two very small Bougainvillea plants back to Massachusetts with me, planted them in full sun, in a large pot, and gave them some plant food and a little manure. They have grown like crazy in two months, and are nearly ten times their original size with huge, lush, dark green leaves. The problem is that there is not a single fuschia flower on it. It’s growing so well, but why no flowers? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi, I’m living in the San Francisco Bay Area and have a lovely energetic bougainvillea just outside my livingroom windows. I want to train it into a tree form. The previous owner of my house planted it so that its base is only a few inches from the house and it’s between 2 windows with only about 1 1/2 feet of space between them (the 2 windows). The plant is about 8 feet high. I’ve cut all lower branches to encourage growth above the windows, but it has become top-heavy; it flops over and away from the house and smothers my garden plants. I’ve resorted to propping it up with an above-ground stake, but…. I’ve heard that staking it (sinking posts at its delicate roots) could damage and kill it, and wooden stakes would rot. I can’t find anyone who knows what to do other than drill braces into my stucco house walls to support it, but that would compromise the integrity of the exterior of the house to rain. Any ideas?

I live in San Diego CA and have 3 boug vines espaliered on a wall. They are 30 yrs. old. For the past 2 years the central plant has dropped its leaves, new growth appears, then drops while immature. The leaf surface appears ‘bumpy’. The adjacent plants are healthy and vigorous. We sprayed with Spinnosad. Deep watered. No joy. To break this cycle we recently cut the plant back to bare trunks. Any idea what is happening?

Thanks for the feedback. Not scale. The leaves are thin and slightly ‘wavy’, they lack substance and retain the light green/bronze of new growth instead of darkening and maturing. Rather as if the plant is unable to create healthy leaves. Invisible sucking insect or a virus? Lynne
I live in Palm Springs, CA (desert) with no gardening experience. I just returned from a two week trip. Most of my boug’s new growth leaves have been munched. Also, there is some fine webbing on some leaves and there was a lot of black soot on the pavement below. I haven’t detected bougainvillea looper when I looked close, but that’s what it probably is. Can you confirm? I didn’t know if it was something else because of the webbing and all the black soot on the ground. Thanks.
I live in Colorado and was given a Boug hanging plant in May. It lost all of it’s leaves and flowers, but came back incredibly beautiful throughout the entire summer. Now there are white spots on the pink flowers. They just look like colorless areas on the flowers. What could this be? Also, I would love to keep it alive throughout the winter in this area, what would I do?

I need help!
I recently replanted two bouganvillea’s from a pot into the ground in my Los Angeles garden. There were two plants in the same pot which I separated and planted in different spots. After a week in the ground neither are looking very happy and I’m worried I damaged the root ball’s when replanting them. I’m hoping there is something I can do to rescue these???? Any help would surely be appreciated - It is so sad seeing these once bountiful plants looking so droopy…. Thanks in advance.

I purchased a small bougainvillea plant during the early spring, it is blooming and grown very well as a container plant; however, I live in Zone 7. Since it is quite a large pot I am reluctant to to move it to my garage. Do you have any alternative ways that I can frost proof it instead?

I live in Fort Lauderdale, FL and I have a beautiful Bougainvillea that I planted about one and a half years ago. It had blooms on it when I planted it. It has grown over eight feet high and vines over beautifully, lush and healthy. It has not bloomed since the initial flowers fell off. My neighbor has the same colored Bougainvillea and it blooms a lot. I know that they do not like much water, so the only water it gets is when it rains, which it does a lot during our rainy season (but still does not bloom during the dry season). I cannot understand why mine and my neighbor’s are both outside, get the same rain, but mine does not bloom. I love the color and planted it with love to bloom. Please help!
We have a villa in the Algarve, Portugal where there is a beautiful purple mature (at least 20 years old) bougainvillea .
This year the leaves have developed a white sticky powder and many of the branches appear lifeless, it is a sorry sight.
Has anyone come across this problem and is there a solution.
We have 2 bougs that we planted 2 years ago. They have been mostly leafless and flowerless and grown very little. They are in full sun. Previously we had 2 bougs in same places that thrived beautifully - but frost got them. Ideas?
Wintering bougainvillea
Hi I live in Albuquerque, NM and have three beautiful bougs. All are quite big and are planted in large pots. I’ve heard about taking them in for the winter so they won’t freeze. So my question is, do I just store them in my garage (zero light) until spring or do they need light during their dormant period? Thanks for your help!
I live in Los Angeles and was just gifted with a potted bougainvillea . I want to put in the ground, but I’m not sure when. One (SoCal focused) book said June, but it seems that after the danger of frost would be okay to plant? I am worried about keeping it in a small pot for too long.
I live in Florida and have a beautiful bougainvillea that is planted in the ground ..it was so woody and too big so I had it pruned back to about 4 inches and its starting to get good growth but I would like to train it to be more tree like than bushy..please advise..thank you Sharon
